Tour 1 - From Canals and Victorians to Today’s City: We visit the city centre canals and consider Georgian and Victorian Birmingham as well as 20th Century architecture. Social aspects of Birmingham includes the impact of Joseph Chamberlain, our famous Lord Mayor with his drive to improve Birmingham.  We look at today's city, including new developments all around us.  Start & finish is the Library of Birmingham, Centenary Square. Tour 2 – Chamberlain Square to the Bull Ring; In the Footsteps of Sir Edward Burne-Jones: From the Art Gallery steps we head through the central area of the city to the Bull Ring. We consider general aspects of the city centre and include artistic features such as the work of Sir Edward Burne-Jones, who was born in Birmingham. Start & finish is at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Chamberlain Square. Download leaflet here….

Tour 3 - Discovering Birmingham: We visit very atmospheric parts of the city and take the ‘secret canal’ to the Jewellery Quarter. We visit St Paul’s Square and coming back up to the city centre passing key buildings and squares. The tour has some surprises along the way with  an appreciation of the huge impact of the Jewellery Quarter to the industrial revolution and Victorian entrepreneurship.  The modern city is considered and the way Birmingham is moving forward into the future. Tour 4 – Round and about Centenary Square: A one hour tour with artworks in Centenary Square used to introduce the city. The tour includes city centre canals, Broad Street and the Black Sabbath Bridge. We visit Gas Street Basin, considered the centre of the English canal network, before returning to the Library of Birmingham starting point. Download leaflet here….

You can purchase tickets from the website www.positivelybirmingham.co.uk. Many tours are also available to book on the TripAdvisor and GetYourGuide websites. Please note that tours are sometimes fully booked or may not run if no tickets have been sold. Always pre-book to avoid disappointment. Tour 1 - From Canals and Victorians to Today’s City: Runs most Saturdays throughout the year 13:30 – 15:30 from the Library of Birmingham.

Tour 2 – Chamberlain Square to the Bull Ring; In the Footsteps of Sir Edward Burne-Jones: Runs some Wednesdays throughout the year, 13:30 – 15:30 from the Museum and Art Gallery.

Tour 3 – Discovering Birmingham: Runs most Sundays throughout the year 13:30 – 15:30 from the Library of Birmingham.

Live Audio System

To ensure that tour participants hear every word a live audio system is used on many tours. Guests are given an audio receiver to enable the tour guide to be heard easily even when you are part of a larger group or not close to the guide.
