The city-centre favourite unveils its new Autumn/Winter menu, bringing richer flavours, seasonal ingredients and a little Italian indulgence to Temple Street.
As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, San Carlo Birmingham is giving diners a very good reason to embrace the new season.
The city-centre Italian restaurant has launched its new Autumn/Winter menu, bringing together some of the best flavours and ingredients of the season – from fresh black truffle and roasted pumpkin to wild mushrooms, seasonal seafood and slow-cooked meats.
Located on Temple Street, the original San Carlo restaurant is one of Birmingham's long-standing dining destinations, and the new menu puts a distinctly autumnal spin on its much-loved Italian style.
Leading the new menu is the Insalata di Zucca, pairing roasted pumpkin with chestnut mushrooms, ricotta salata, toasted hazelnuts and fresh black truffle. It's autumn on a plate – earthy, creamy, crunchy and packed with seasonal flavour.
For pasta lovers, the Rigatoro Affumicato and Monkfish brings together smoky smoked rigatoni, delicate monkfish, rich bisque and fresh chives, while the Zuppetta di Mare offers a taste of the Mediterranean with shellfish and sea bass served alongside toasted Altamura bread.
And then there's the dish that's made for the San Carlo spotlight. The Risotto Zucca & Tartufo takes creamy pumpkin risotto and finishes it tableside inside a pecorino wheel, topped with fresh black truffle.
It's rich, indulgent and designed to be enjoyed as much for the experience as the flavour – exactly the sort of dish made for lingering lunches, glamorous dinners and a little autumn foodie FOMO.
The new menu continues with Tagliatelle Castagne, combining chestnut pasta with creamy mushrooms and shaved fresh black truffle, alongside a slow-braised Beef Cheek served with creamy mashed potato, red wine jus and salsa verde.
For seafood fans, roasted Monkfish comes with a creamy green peppercorn and lemon sauce, balancing the richness of the dish with a fresh citrus finish.
Whether it's a long lunch, dinner with friends, a date night or a pre-theatre bite, the new menu has been created around the sort of comforting, generous dishes that make autumn one of the best seasons for Italian dining.
