Footballing icon Clarence Seedorf, a four-times Champions League winner, will captain one of the two teams with the second superstar captain to be announced in the coming days.

Child homelessness The housing emergency has reached critical levels, and children are paying the price. The latest government figures reveal that 169,050 children are now homeless and living in temporary accommodation in England*. Shelter warns that without urgent action to build social rent homes, homelessness will continue to skyrocket, with new analysis by Shelter estimating that 206,000 children will be homeless by 2029.**
In Birmingham, almost 11,300 children are currently homeless and are living in temporary accommodation. Proceeds from the match will go towards helping children both nationally and locally, by contributing directly to Shelter’s efforts to end homelessness once and for all.
The money raised by Game4theChildren will enable Birmingham City FC Foundation to continue delivering vital support to children and young people in some of the city’s most deprived areas through its high-impact programmes – empowering individuals and building stronger, more resilient communities.
It will support Shelter to provide the advice, support and practical assistance families need to find and keep a safe place to call home, while also campaigning for long lasting change.

"We’re really excited to be partnering with Birmingham City, their incredible Foundation, all of our partners and our family of legendary players and celebrities on Game4theChildren.” “We can’t wait to see a packed-out stadium in Birmingham for what promises to be a fun-filled day, raising money for two amazing charities.” “Child homelessness in England is at crisis point, but through the power of football and Game4theChildren, we can make a difference.”
Jeremy Dale, CEO, Birmingham City
“This is one of the most important games to have ever taken place at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park. Child homelessness is a societal issue that is constantly around us. By using the power of football and entertainment we can shine a spotlight on the scale of the issue, while at the same time celebrate the great work that many people are already doing in this area to help improve lives. By joining together with Shelter and Legends we can raise more money and help those children who need it most. This is more than a game of football. It’s about changing and improving lives.”
Clarence Seedorf
“I’ve been committed in giving back to society my whole life, by using sport as a tool to make the world a better place. Sport is a catalyst for creating a more inclusive, peaceful, equitable and responsible society. Initiatives like Game4theChildren are more than welcome and effective and I’m happy to contribute with my presence.”
Antony Isherwood, Director for Birmingham City FC Foundation
“As a charity working across the length and breadth of Birmingham, we see the struggles young people face every day. From going to school hungry or simply not attending, to not having a permanent residence to call home, the challenge in Birmingham is growing, but is not insurmountable. “With an event of this magnitude happening right here at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park, we have the opportunity to change the lives of young people, and every ticket purchased will help us to do that.”
Lauren Thompson, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Shelter
“It’s a privilege to be one of the charity partners for Game4theChildren. It promises to be an exciting fixture, all to raise vital funds to help children experiencing homelessness.
“Right now, more children than ever are stuck homeless growing up in temporary accommodation – forced to grow up in cramped and insecure conditions sharing beds with siblings and with no space to play or do homework.
“Our frontline services provide vital advice and support to people and families facing homelessness both in Birmingham, and across England. It’s thanks to the invaluable support of partners, like Birmingham City FC and Legends, that we’re able to continue our fight against the housing emergency. We’re also delighted that the headline sponsor for this match is our long-standing partner HSBC UK.”
