Wolverhampton
A vibrant place steeped in history, the City of Wolverhampton has plenty to offer visitors and residents all year round.
Once a small market town, specialising in the woollen trade, the city and its residents have inspired its regeneration. Like the rest of the region, it’s a city of many firsts. Home to the first automatic traffic lights. Pioneered the Heavy Metal scene across the West Midlands, sparking bands like Black Sabbath. Home of one of the world's oldest professional football teams, Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves were one of the founding members of the football league in 1888 and fly the flag for the West Midlands riding high in the tables today. Molineux Stadium is their home ground, which welcomes over 32,000 fans and a major part of the club's history. Take a trip down memory lane with a trip to the Wolves museum and a behind-the-scenes tour around this historic stadium.
From iconic sport to unique arts and culture. Wolverhampton Art Gallery offers over 300 years of art within this free gallery. Wightwick Manor is one of a few surviving examples of house of this kind, the legacy of a family's passion for Victorian art and design. Take in the stunning influence of William Morris as you enjoy the stunning collection of art within the grounds. A true example of the region's rich culture and heritage.
