Southside District
Birmingham’s Southside district is one of the city’s most vibrant and diverse areas, known for its mix of culture, nightlife, and food. It’s home to the Birmingham Hippodrome and O2 Academy, as well as the lively Gay Village along Hurst Street, which plays a major role in the city’s LGBTQ+ scene.
Chinatown and the Arcadian add an international feel, with theatres, restaurants, and late-night entertainment packed into a walkable area. For cafés and casual bites, favourites include Café Ocha & Coffee Roasters for brunch and specialty coffee, Café Soya and Chung Ying for authentic Chinese dishes. Together, these attractions and eateries make Southside a buzzing hub from daytime coffee stops to evenings out.
