The restaurant itself is very well-established with a history going back to 1992 - it was the first in China town, the Arcadian centre and the first Japanese restaurant in Birmingham.
Both the interior and signage reflect the colours of the Japanese flag - red and white - whilst inside it is a classic linear design with screens, black leather and ivory walls.
Here at Miyako Teppanyaki we try to create a feel of Japan in the heart of Birmingham. The restaurant was the first Japanese restaurant in Birmingham when it opened it's doors in 1992. We always aim to please our guests with our expertise in the art of Teppanyaki and our trained chefs, who all have vast experience of Japanese cuisine, will use their individual cooking skills to entertain and, more importantly, serve great food. We source our ingredients locally and are lucky enough to have the outdoor market, indoor market and wholesale market literally on our doorstep ensuring our fruit, vegetables, meat and seafood are always fresh.
As well as having traditional Japanese dishes we have created a few of our own over the years and to accompany them we have accumulated a selection of Japanese beverages which include green tea, Sake (rice wine), plum wine, Shochu (barley based spirit), Asahi, Kirin and Sapporo Japanese lager as well as a selection of Japanese whiskies. Sake is a popular choice and can be served as a hot pot or a refreshing chilled glass. A favourite of Japan is Shochu with pickled plum and warm water, which leaves a crisp and sharp yet fruity taste on the palate.
