We asked The Ting Thing to share her best-kept Brummie secrets on what makes the perfect day out. She started with Yorks Café, a place where her and her husband go for dates regularly, including their anniversary several years ago.
As a firm supporter of the city’s independents, The Ting Thing and her hubby kicked off their day in brunch style, enjoying the York's House Breakfast (£12) for a hearty start to the day and the avocado and feta smash (without the feta to make it vegan-friendly) (£7.50).
They then set off to Stratford-upon-Avon with West Midlands Railway and arrived there in 45 minutes – a quick and easy way to get out of Birmingham without the stress of driving.

During their time there, they enjoyed the sights of the iconic Shakespeare’s birth place, strolling on the River Avon, catching a bite to eat at the Riverside Café and exploring the local markets.
A quick hop back on the train to Birmingham for dinner and the couple headed to the new Pint Shop for a pre-dinner drink, before heading over to Bodega Cantina. Famed for its nachos and cocktails, it’s definitely worth a visit and The Ting Thing’s mouth-watering photos make us want to devour the whole menu!
Between them, they shared vegan nachos, baked tofu tacos (a Christmas special so you’ll have to wait until next time!), Ximxim and another festive treat, the Vegan Mexican Lasagne.
A huge thanks to The Ting Thing for showing us how easy it is to have a day trip around the region. To check out her full blog post, head over to The Ting Thing’s blog post here.
