B:Music, the Birmingham music charity responsible for Symphony Hall and Town Hall, has launched its new Spring programme for 2023 which includes comedy, live music, dance and spoken word on its two world-famous stages.

The new season showcases an array of performances at Town Hall and Symphony Hall. From KT Tunstall’s soulful vocals to Lloyd Griffith’s distinct humour, February sees a varied and exciting programme. The Birmingham Classical Season is in full swing with Paul Lewis gracing the Town Hall stage in March, and April sees the return of Giovanni Pernice and Billy Ocean.

Dazzled by dance? Birmingham Royal Ballet will delight audiences young and old with a welcome return to Symphony Hall of their much-loved smash hit An Evening of Music and Dance (11 Feb). Alongside the Royal Ballet Sinfonia conducted by Paul Murphy, Birmingham Royal Ballet’s dancers will perform a glorious gala selection of works hand-picked especially by Director Carlos Acosta. The compère for the evening will be Marverine Cole. For Strictly Come Dancing fans there are three pairs of celebrated ‘Strictly’ stars bringing their shows to Symphony Hall: Featuring fresh flavours and super-charged choreography, Gorka Marquez and Karen Hauer return with Firedance (31 Mar); Once Upon a Time (4 Apr) is the brand new dance show starring Nadiya and Kai, for the first time on stage together; and Strictly Come Dancing 2021 champion and dance heart-throb Giovanni Pernice will take Birmingham audiences on a journey to his homeland with his brand new 2023 production of Made in Italy (8 Apr).

Crazy for comedy? B:Music is providing the laughs this Spring with a plethora of comedy A-listers to choose from. Stand-up stars including David O’Doherty: Woah is Me (4 Feb), Daniel Sloss (17 Feb), Lloyd Griffith: One Tonne of Fun (25 Feb), Urzila Carlson: It’s Personal (5 Mar) and Josh Pugh (17 Mar) will be taking to the Symphony Hall and Town Hall stages for the ultimate feelgood night out.

Love live music? Relive the glorious age of Brit Pop with Suede (21 Mar), experience all the unforgettable hits from Bros and a personal tribute to Cole Porter with The Matt Goss Experience with MG Big Band and the Royal Philharmonic (5 Apr), revel in the rare talent, soulfulness and engaging songwriting of Dexy’s Midnight Runners founding member Pete Williams and his band plus special guests (16 Feb) and celebrate the welcome return of one of Celtic Connections’ most enduring and beloved institutions Transatlantic Sessions, featuring Martha Wainwright with her unmistakably rich vocals (9 Feb).

Looking for family fun? Bring the whole family for a grand day out to Town Hall in March for Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers – with Live Brass Band (25 Mar), in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Academy Award Winning short film. Or join Duggee, Betty, Happy and all your other favourite characters in the all-singing, all-dancing Hey Duggee Live! (10-12 Apr).

Looking to learn? B:Music is bringing some world-class speakers with plenty of stories to tell to its stages. Expect a bold and imaginative talk from Gordon Buchanan, one of the most prominent wildlife presenters and filmmakers working today (28 Mar), Priscilla Presley will be in intimate conversation with radio and TV presenter Edith Bowman (5 Apr), social commentator Fran Lebowitz takes to the Symphony Hall stage (20 Apr), and there is the welcome return of Test Match Special Live: The Ashes with Jonathan Agnew and Glenn McGrath (18 Apr).

For the more adventurous, there’s even the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour 2023 which returns for two shows on 18 March, showcasing the best inspirational adventures on screen.

Other highlights of the Spring 2023 season include a performance by the American singer-songwriter Lissie (20 Feb), the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra playing Richard Strauss’s monumental Alpine Symphony (6 Feb), and a performance for the brilliant BBC Jazz Award winning saxophonist Julian Siegal who brings the Julian Siegal Jazz Orchestra to Symphony Hall in a rare opportunity to see this handpicked, stellar line-up perform together (7 Feb).
