What comes to your mind when you think about the “Big Apple”? Probably a landscape filled with famous skyscrapers like the Empire State, the music and lights of Broadway, the calm of Central Park… Anyone can tell that New York is vibrant and, as Frank Sinatra rightfully said (or rather sang), is known for being “the city that never sleeps”.
Well, I have not had the chance to visit New York yet, but last Friday I got a taste of it. And the best of all is that it was not necessary for me to jump on a plane to the States to do so. I just had to go to Temple Street, right in Birmingham city centre, and enjoy a very special event. That was the night when Manahatta UK opened its new venue in our city.
Manahatta Birmingham makes you feel like a New Yorker even before entering its doors. Parked right in front of the entrance, there is a yellow cab just like one of the millions that go through the American city daily. Right there, in the middle of Temple Street, you can grasp the good vibes (and the disco music) that come from the place.

I was lucky to be one of the 750 VIP guests who was invited to the exclusive launch party organised by Delicious PR for Manahatta Birmingham (Thank you, Dionne, I owe you one) before its opening to the general public. On arrival, I was greeted with a big smile and a glass of prosecco. Then I went to explore the place. A flashy disco ball, decorative flowers on the walls, neon signs, and even a swing sofa, are just some of the features that make Manahatta one of the most Instagrammable places in Birmingham.
Although the dancefloor is located in the upper floor, there is more fun downstairs. Here you can find both a full length mirror (perfect for your group pictures) and a selfie booth where you can capture the best moments of your night in the form of Polaroid prints. There is a room that can be booked for private events and parties seating up to 15 guests. When I went to Manahatta Birmingham, the lovely girls from The Glitter Dollz were there to add more colour to the night with their art.
Overall, it was an incredible experience. The music was superb, and the cocktails were both great and quickly served. The entertainment staff really know how to get the party started, from the dancers and saxophonist to the stilt walkers - it was amazing to see the area full of life again! It’s a great to see new businesses like Manahatta opening in the city. So whether you’re wanting to treat yourself with a bottomless brunch, dinner experience, or just to enjoy a New York style party, I will see you in Manahatta Birmingham.
