With greatest pleasure, we can announce that Dishoom Birmingham has officially thrown open its doors this morning!
A sincere thank you to everyone who came down during our soft launch to help our team prepare for the official opening. Birmingham, we have been humbled by your enthusiastic welcome and we look forward to building great friendships with you all.
And of course a huge thanks to our team (hosts, servers, chefs, bartenders – all of you) for being such big-hearted, first-class rock-stars. We are most grateful.
Now we look foward to welcoming you every day of the week, from breakfast until late dinner. Do remember that walk-ins are always (warmly!) welcome, but if you'd prefer to book ahead there is still some availability in August, and indeed for up to thirty days in advance. You can now make a booking for up to six people at any time of day or evening. Kindly visit our website to check availability.
(As explained in our last message, this is something we're doing during the time of corona to keep everyone safe. You can read more about our safety measures here.)
In case you missed out on our soft launch, Her Majesty's Treasury has kindly offered all restaurant-goers a discount of 50% off meals taken on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in August, up to a cap of £10 per person.
In support of this generosity, we are going beyond the £10 cap set by the Chancellor, and honouring this 50% discount on all food and soft drinks.
This really is outrageously good value. Your breakfast of Akuri or Kejriwal and as many cups of Chai as you can drink can be had for a little over £5. A delicious and fulsome lunch of House Black Daal, Roomali Roti and a couple of Lamb Chops will set you back less than £10. Or, enjoy a lavish feast of your Bombay comfort food favourites, all at extremely humble prices.
(And, if it so happens that you get carried away and cannot finish what you order, we'll be more than happy to parcel it up for you to take home.)
There is no need to register for the discount or present a voucher: it will be automatically be applied to your bill.
Kind Words from Our New Neighbours...
It's always humbling to receive a new comment on Instagram about a recent visit, but we've been made to feel truly at home thanks to some very kind reviews from some local foodie friends:–
Laura from Bite Your Brum opined,
“The Chicken Ruby is a glistening bowl of gorgeousness, with tender meat and a rich, lustrous gravy hitting you with fenugreek and cardamom flavours. It’s pretty hard to stop eating it."
Amy of Bab About Town gave dessert a hearty thumbs-up!
"We went for the Dishoom chocolate pudding with chili ice cream. All I got from this pudding was PURE JOY, melted chocolate mixed in with a vanilla/chili ice cream is the pairing that I need in my life, a sensational dish.”
We were delighted that Emma Victoria Stokes brought along the entire brood:
"The Dishoom Birmingham staff went above and beyond to make us feel relaxed during our visit. Nothing was too much trouble and six of us (including baby Seb) were shown to a large family booth with a balcony view opposite the museum.”
Si from Meat And One Veg has quicky become a familiar face in Chamberlain Square:
"What I did get was the sense of a business wanting to do things the right way; to give back to those in need, and to bring communities together over food.”
We're truly thrilled by these kind words. And we look forward to welcoming more new neighbours into our world.
A Meal for A Meal
For each and every meal you eat at Dishoom, we donate a meal to a child. We work with two charities – Magic Breakfast in the UK and Akshaya Patra in India – who provide nourishing free meals to schools. This means the children are undistracted by hunger, and ready to learn.
