Running Monday 8 February – Friday 19 February, Colmore BID’s Wellbeing Fortnight will see over 20 virtual workshops, webinars and fitness sessions take place with the aim of equipping participants with better tools and coping mechanisms to deal with mental health issues, such as anxiety and stress.

The fortnight has been organised by Colmore BID in collaboration with mental health charity, Living Well UK and PureGym, Snow Hill Plaza, who are organising events throughout the programme.

During the two weeks, there will be a number of physical fitness sessions including Legs, Bums and Tums, Bootcamp, Bodytone and Burn it, all of which are being delivered by qualified personal trainers. The high-intensity classes are suitable for all levels of experience and combine a mixture of strength and cardio routines to help boost stamina and muscular endurance, as well as burn calories and fat.

Living Well UK’s mental health and wellbeing experts will be urging participants to close their emails and put their phones on silent for a proper lunch break of relaxing and rejuvenating activities to help deal with the stresses that many are facing while working from home during lockdown.

There will also be sessions around anger management and access to mental health support in the physical and virtual workplace; something which has become even more vital in the ‘new normal’.

Ben Howells, CEO of Living Well UK, is looking forward to the charity taking part in the wellbeing fortnight. He commented:

With lockdown restrictions underway once more, the line between our work and home lives is blurrier than ever; therefore we hope that with the help of our mental health and wellbeing experts, we can provide some guidance for employers and employees alike and offer the support they need.”

Michele Wilby, CEO of Colmore BID, said: “We first launched our Wellbeing Fortnight in 2020 with resounding success. While we can’t host these events in person, many of the tools and techniques provided are even more important during these trying times. With more people noticing a decline in their mental health due to Coronavirus, businesses need to look at ways of supporting their staff or face a decline in productivity and capability.
