It’s time to embrace the 1960’s in Curl Girl’s production of A Marriage Proposal which
will be performed at Midlands Art Centre (MAC) from Saturday 30th – Sunday 31st
March.

Set in the rural countryside of England and the vibrant backdrop of Jalandhar, Punjab
amidst Easter and Vaisakhi celebrations.

Two families at the height of their selfishness and stubbornness laugh, explode and
exploit as a nervous wreck suitor, dressed in his finest clothes arrives at Chubukov
family farm.

See this uplifting and painfully funny adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s A Marriage
Proposal, a farce on the preposterous business of courtship and marriage. Tempers
flare, love blooms and guns fire all over again.

Experience the fusion of two versions of culture on one stage, in Hindi and English.
Directed by Raimu Itfum, the cast of three comprises Kiren Jogi as Nancy Smith / Nimi
Choudhary, Rajesh Bedi as Shamsher Choudhary / Samuel Smith and Kareem Nasif as Larry Brown / Lali Babbar.

The performances at MAC will also be accompanied by local musician Dalbir Singh
Rattan.
