This Christmas step into the fantastical world of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and follow the adventures of Little Red Riding Hood at The Rep.

The smash-hit production of C.S. Lewis’ classic story roars into The Rep from Tue 14 Nov 2023 – Sun 28 Jan 2024 direct from London’s West End and invites audiences to step through the wardrobe into the magical kingdom of Narnia for the most mystical of adventures in a faraway land.

Join Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter as they wave goodbye to wartime Britain and say hello to Mr Tumnus, the talking Faun; Aslan, the unforgettable Lion and the coldest, cruellest White Witch.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe joins another outstanding production this holiday season with Little Red Riding Hood playing in the Rep’s most intimate venue, The Door, from Thu 7 Dec 2023 – Sat 6 Jan 2024.

Directed by Rep Associate Artist, Caroline Wilkes, Little Red Riding Hood is a new adaptation of the classic fairy tale.

Little Red Riding Hood loves adventures. On her way to visit Grandma with a basket of goodies and wearing her signature bright red coat, she sets out for what will be her most exciting adventure yet! Join Little Red Riding Hood on her magical festive journey through the deep dark woods. Watch her outwit the Big Bad Wolf as she shows that being brave, kind and a little bit chatty can get you out of even the trickiest situations.

Written by Katherine Chandler, who also wrote last year’s family favourite Jack and The Magic Beanstalk, it’s another Rep Original production that has been created especially for children aged three to six years old (and their grown-ups).

Caroline Wilkes said: “I am so excited to be making the brand new show, Little Red Riding Hood, with Birmingham Rep this Christmas.

“Using live music and interactive, immersive storytelling, our very youngest audiences will meet Red Riding Hood and accompany her on an extraordinary, exciting adventure. Where will the wolf be hiding and can you help Red to find her way safely home? This is such a beloved tale that we just know children and adults alike will enjoy it.”

All performances feature some integrated Makaton signing. Little Red Riding Hood  is generously supported by the Sir Barry Jackson Trust and is a Green Book sustainably made theatre production.

Green Book productions are part of an industry wide initiative to tackle climate change from waste reduction to eco-friendly ink for printed posters. The Rep is investing in further sustainable productions in 2024.

Sean Foley, Artistic Director at The Rep, added: “We’re very excited about the Rep’s upcoming festive season. Once again we have two wonderful shows to share with audiences of all ages.

“In our main theatre, The House, we have the truly amazing C.S. Lewis’ classic, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. This spectacular show, straight from London’s West End, brings the snowy world of Narnia to extraordinary life - with amazing stagecraft, astounding large-scale puppets, and live on-stage music and song. The production is a thrilling, enchanting, and magical theatrical extravaganza for all ages.

Little Red Riding Hood is the perfect introduction to live theatre, and has been written with our youngest theatregoers in mind. It will be staged in our most intimate theatre space, The Door, creating a unique, entertaining and interactive experience.

“We are looking forward to welcoming audiences, new and returning, to enjoy the very best of live theatre this Christmas at The Rep.”
