Directed by Rep Associate Artist, Caroline Wilkes, Jack and the Magic Beanstalk is a brand new adaptation of the classic fairy tale, featuring captivating puppetry and joyful live music.

Written by acclaimed children’s theatre playwright Katherine Chandler (The Princess and the Pea; The Ugly Duckling), Jack and the Magic Beanstalk will play in the Rep’s most intimate space of The Door from Wed 7 – Sat 31 Dec 2022.

Jack loves his Mum, and his Mum loves Jack. Jack also loves his grub and dreams of food. The extremely greedy Giant loves food too, but doesn’t leave enough for all to share. Join Jack on his fantastical, festive adventure of magical beans, golden harps and towering beanstalks, as he climbs to the land above the clouds to teach the Giant a jolly good lesson.

Director Caroline Wilkes said; “I am thrilled to be directing this brand new immersive production of Jack and the Magic Beanstalk for our youngest audiences at The Rep.

“The show, made especially for 3 to 6 year olds, will have live music, puppetry and physical story telling in a reimagining of this well-known tale.”

Jack and the Magic Beanstalk is generously supported by the Sir Barry Jackson Trust.

Jack and the Magic Beanstalk joins another family production this holiday season as NATIVITY! The Musical returns to The Rep from Sat 19 Nov 2022 – Sat 7 Jan 2023. Since its world premiere at The Rep in 2017, NATIVITY! The Musical has been seen by over one million people during an acclaimed UK tour and three successful London runs.

Sean Foley, Artistic Director at The Rep added; “The festive season is a time to share with family and friends, to be entertained and have fun. This winter, The Rep is welcoming all ages with shows that everyone can enjoy together...

Jack and the Magic Beanstalk will be the perfect introduction to live theatre, a magical experience to share with our youngest theatregoers in our most intimate venue, The Door. NATIVITY! The Musical, our Rep Original Christmas classic returns in our main theatre, The House, and provides all of the glitter, excitement, thrills and tinsel of the season for both the young and the young at heart.
