Planning your next travel adventure for this year? Wanting to tick of those undiscovered places from your bucket list?

London’s Nimi Blackwell loves a weekend break away, and where better to relax and unwind than in the cosy village of Hampton-in-Arden in the West Midlands, home to the stunning 19th century manor house, Hampton Manor.

Their walls tell many stories. The former estate of Prime Minister Sir Robert Peel and a house made for convening the leaders in industry and government, it’s now a stunning, luxury retreat, recently voted in the top 100 Best British Hotels by The Sunday Times.

Nimi’s trip was all ‘zen’ from start to finish, travelling first class with London Northwestern Railway from Euston to Birmingham New Street, starting at £15.00 one way. A further 20 minute train journey with West Midlands Railway and you’ll arrive at your final destination.

But this isn’t any ordinary hotel, it’s the perfect foodie hideaway with its own onsite Michelin-star restaurant, Peels. Everything they bring to the table is honest, original and delicious.

Dinner at our house is more than just a seat at the table. It’s an invitation to settle in for the evening. Come early to sample something new at the Maker’s Table. Then unwind in the Parlour with a drink in hand. Pick a sofa and we’ll bring chef’s snacks to you before we take you through for the main event.

Diners can enjoy their 4 or 7 course tasting menus, sampling ‘refined & original combinations’ (The Michelin Guide) inspired by the manor’s surroundings and gardens. After dinner, guests can retreat to one of the cosy bedrooms or let the evening linger fireside with a nightcap in Fred’s Bar, the cosiest room in the house.

Nimi certainly enjoyed her stay, finishing off her relaxing weekend break with a couple’s massage at the Hampton Clinic and exploring the picturesque Hampton-in-Arden.

But don’t just take out word for it…

Hampton Manor

Once owned by Sir Robert Peel, Hampton Manor used to host the cream of British society, but today it’s better known for its acclaimed restaurant and distinctly unstuffy atmosphere. It was Sir Robert’s son Frederick who transformed the house into the gothic showpiece it is today, complete with an ornate clock tower, walled garden and grand rooms fit for lavish entertaining.
