Tour No. 1 - From Canals and Victorians to today’s city: We visit the central canals, consider Georgian and Victorian Birmingham, 20th Century architecture and today's city, including new developments all around us. Start & finish: Library of Birmingham, Centenary Square. Duration: 1 ¾ hour.
Tour No. 2 - In the footsteps of Sir Edward Burne-Jones: We head through the central area of the city to the Bull Ring. A general walking tour of the city that also considers artist Edward Burne-Jones, who was born in the town and whose work we experience on our adventure. Start & Finish: Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Chamberlain Square. Duration: 1 ¾ hour.
Tour No. 3 - Discovering Birmingham: Based on the tourist guide Discovering Birmingham. This tour visits very atmospheric parts of the canal in the city. It goes into the Jewellery Quarter and visits St Paul’s Square and comes back up to the city centre stopping at key buildings and squares. Start & finish: Library of Birmingham, Centenary Square. Duration: 1 ¾ hour.
Tour No. 4 - Around and about Centenary Square: We use the brand new Centenary Square and surrounding area to introduce the city. Includes Centenary Square artworks, ICC and city centre canals. Gives plenty of ideas for other things to see and do. Start & finish: Library of Birmingham, Centenary Square. Duration: 1 hour.
Audio System - Our live audio system has proven extremely popular, allowing everyone to hear the tour guide perfectly even when we entertain large groups. It is especially useful for those with hearing impairment and enables us to communicate in both very noisy parts of the city and also places where we need to be quiet.
Live translated tours - If you have a single language party we can provide live translation using our live audio system. The tour guide speaks English and tourists hear a live translation in their headsets in their native language. For example a group of French students will hear the English directly and then receive a French translation. Requires pre-booking and not available on all tours.
Access - All four tours have excellent access for coaches from Cambridge Street behind the Library of Birmingham. Over 260 reviews from the public on Tripadvisor speak for themselves - we are an increasingly popular Birmingham year-round experience now in our fourth season. Further details, PDF leaflets and demo YouTube videos of our tours from: www.positivelybirmingham.co.uk.
Social responsibility - On our walking tours we always meet rough sleepers and we commit to donating at least 10% of our walking tour turnover, often much more, to a charity that helps in this area of city life.
