About Birmingham Airport

In 2019 Birmingham Airport (BHX) served c12.5m passengers a year.

c35m people, more than half the population of the UK, live within a two-hour drive or train journey of BHX.

BHX is one of the West Midlands’ largest employers, supporting 30,900 jobs and contributing £1.5bn in GVA (gross value added) to the region’s economy.

In the years to 2033, BHX plans to increase its annual passenger numbers to +18m, which will result in GVA rising to £2.1bn and jobs supported to 34,000. Click here for more.

Sitting at the heart of the country’s road and rail networks, BHX is the UK’s best-connected airport - and is set to become even better connected in future.

When the new HS2 railway is built, complete with its automated people mover linking directly to the BHX terminal, central London will be just 37 minutes away by train.

BHX has publicly committed to become a net-zero-carbon airport by 2033. It will do this by prioritising zero carbon airport operations with minimal use of carbon offsets.

BHX’s purpose is ‘Proud of every journey.’ That means everyone at BHX taking pride in getting customers safely, punctually and comfortably from A to B.

Award-winning Birmingham Airport serves more than 133 direct destinations globally with 30 airlines and is the UK’s fifth largest airport with the highest percentage of business travellers after London Heathrow.

Just 10km from the centre of Birmingham the airport is connected by rail, road and bus, in 10 minutes, you can find yourself right in the centre of things and be ready to start exploring the city.

The quickest way to the city centre is by train from Birmingham International, the transport hub located between the Airport and the National Exhibition Centre. The Airport’s terminal is connected by a free and rapid monorail link, enabling you to go from plane to train in no time.

For those who are making Birmingham part of a longer UK visit Birmingham International is connected to the regional and intercity rail network with fast and frequent services to London and almost all of the UK’s major cities.

Alternatively, you can jump aboard a local bus which will take you into the heart of Birmingham. Average journey times are 30 minutes from the Airport to the city centre. The X1 bus service also connects the Airport with Coventry city centre.

National Express and Megabus coaches also stop outside the Terminal, connecting the Airport with Birmingham and beyond.

Parking at Birmingham Airport

At Birmingham Airport we have plenty of parking options for you, whether you’re looking for affordable, long-term parking off-site, or a convenient drop-off parking area close to the main terminal. If you’re not sure where to park at Birmingham Airport, here’s a quick run-down of all your options.

Short Stay Parking

Car Parks 12 or 3 are available for picking up passengers. They’re conveniently located near the arrivals area and offer short-term parking that’s ideal for pick-ups. The low charges at these car parks mean that if your passenger is delayed, you won’t end up spending a fortune in parking fees waiting for them to arrive.

The tariff for a 60-minute stay in multi-storey car parks 1, 2 and 3 is £7.50.

Long Stay Parking

Car Parks 1, 2 or 3 also offer longer-term parking, if you’re off on a two-week trip or heading a little further afield for longer.

You can also use Car Park 5 or Car Park 7.  Car Park 5 is a surface car park which offers great value for money and is within a 10-minute walk to the terminal. Car Park 7 is our off-site car park, approximately 10 minutes’ drive from the airport itself, offering affordable, long-term parking that’s ideal if you’re travelling on a budget.

Valet Parking

Our Valet Parking service is ideal if you're looking for one of the fastest routes to the check-in desks. Simply drop off your car in the Valet Parking Car Park, which is located next to car park 3. We’ll take care of your vehicle until your return date, when it will be waiting for you when you step off your flight.

Motorcycle Parking

Heading to the airport on two wheels? There’s a dedicated parking area for motorbikes in Car Park 2. The car park is signposted on our access roads. Simply follow the signs to Car Park 2 and take the first left after the entry barriers. You will see a designated sheltered area for motorcycles.

Please do not park motorbikes in other car parking spaces as you may be charged the full parking rate. Please note that anchor points are not available and that for security reasons, motorcycles will be removed if not parked in the designated areas.
