Outdoor theatre season at Birmingham Botanical Gardens

19 July - 16 August
Birmingham Botanical Gardens prepares to upstage last year’s theatre performances as it welcomes Birmingham Botanical Gardens welcomes The Wind in the Willows to the stage for the first time ever.

July marks the beginning of theatre season for the Gardens, which runs until August. This year, professional open-air theatre companies Chapterhouse and Immersion Theatre will host the performances.

The season opens with Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte on Wednesday 19 July. A week later, the classic story of The Wind in the Willows opens on Thursday 27 July. The theatre season closes with a brand new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice on Wednesday 16 August, performed by a stellar cast of professional actors.

Visitors are invited to bring along a picnic and enjoy the shows from the picturesque lawns of the historic Gardens, but don’t worry if you forget to bring your snacks – the Pavilion Tea Room will remain open for the duration of the performances with plenty of traditional British favourites to choose from.

James Wheeler, Chief Executive of Birmingham Botanical Gardens said:

We are excited to welcome Toad and friends to the Gardens – we think they’ll fit right in among the many variations of wildlife we house here. For the grown ups, we have two very special adaptations of Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice, performed by Chapterhouse Theatre Company. The show must go on, come rain or shine – so pack your macs along with your picnics!

Tickets start from just £10. For more information and tickets, visit www.birminghambotanicalgardens.org.uk/whatson or call 0121 454 1860.
