The Lord Mayor’s Show Day

The Lord Mayor’s Show returns to Cannon Hill Park on Saturday 11th June to welcome the new Lord Mayor, Councillor Anne Underwood to office with a fun packed day with lots for all the family to do.

This year, the event will promote Sport, Health and Wellbeing in the city with free taster session taking place throughout the day.

Following last year’s successful event there will be opportunities for visitors to try Rugby and Netball with the WASPS Rugby Club in association with the Rugby Football Union (RFU).  

Edgbaston Priory Tennis Club will run workshops at the tennis courts, whilst Active Parks return with free outdoor activities such as Zumba, badminton and tai chi, plus bike ride workshops.

New for 2017 will be Capoeira demonstrations and workshops, Ben Nuttall’s freestyle football show with free workshops for all.  British Athletics will bring along activities, with a race track for budding Usain Bolts to try their speed on, whilst Kash the Flash returns with his martial arts demonstrations.  Sport Birmingham will also attend the event with sport taster sessions.

Free Radio, will be at the event with their new Prosecco bar, for those who enjoy a sparkling wine.  Plus there will be large outdoor games for all the family to play.

Free craft workshops will entertain visitors, along with Polly’s Play buses, which provide entertainment for younger children and visitors 12 years plus on their two buses.  Greenspaces Leisure Park, Golf Pitch and Putt, inflatable slides and the parks Land Train will be open to visitors.

For those who like a mooch about there will be stalls from local traders, plus an eating zone with local street food stalls and a bar.  Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the live music with performances by The Birmingham Irish Pipes and Drums.

The Armed Forces will be represented by the Royal Navy HMS Forward, The Royal Marines, and the 37th Signals and 48 Squadron Regiments with activities and recruitment stalls, plus the West Midlands Fire Service will bring their Fire Tender to the event.

The event is a free, fun filled day for all the family within the beautiful setting of Cannon Hill Park.

Parking at the event is limited: Buses from City Centre:
No.1 (stop on Edgbaston Road)
No. 35 (stop on Willows Road)
No.'s 45 & 47 (stop on Pershore Road)
No.'s 61, 62 & 63 (stop a short distance away on the Bristol Road)
