Our story and plans
Over the last 4 years, millions of people across Birmingham and the West Midlands as a whole have been able to have their own Olympic or Paralympic moment right here in the region.
What's your story?
From businesses who supplied goods and services to the Olympic Park, to families who watched Olympic Football at the City of Coventry stadium, everyone involved has an inspiring story to tell.
Some of the key highlights of our London 2012 story are:
Almost 1.2 million people across Birmingham and the region lined the streets to welcome the Olympic Flame when it visited the West Midlands during the summer of 2012.
Over 2.7 million attendances at Cultural Olympiad and London 2012 Festival events across the region.
367 businesses from the region secured in excess of £570 million worth of contracts.
High profile business wins including the manufacture of the Olympic and Paralympic Torches.
Over 160,000 attendances for Olympic Football at the City of Coventry Stadium.
Almost 600 Community Games events held with 437,000 people participating.
Hosting of high profile Pre-Games Training Camps, including the USA and Jamaica Track and Field teams in Birmingham.
