Loves Restaurant scoops National Award for 3rd year running.
Loves Restaurant, Birmingham has been once again voted in the list of Top 100 Restaurants in the UK at the 2013 National Restaurant Awards.
Steve Love, who attended the glamorous dinner where the top 100 were announced, was delighted to be once again recognized in this prestigious listing, even more so when he realized he is now the highest rated restaurant in Birmingham and amongst only 25 restaurants to feature from outside of London.
Now in their sixth year, Restaurant magazine's National Restaurant Awards recognise and celebrate the 100 best places to eat out in the UK, as voted for by 150 industry experts. And to add to jubilation of the evening, Loves Restaurant also retained its spot on the Sustainable Restaurant Awards list, given 4th from the list of 100. The SRA rate all the restaurants based on sourcing of their produce but also on its water, waste and energy saving initiatives as well as its commitment to treat and engage responsibly with the staff, customers and community.
The SRA comment that Loves passion for sourcing local produce, working uniquely with producers to reduce waste and for their remarkable cheese board that not only sources all of its cheeses from within 50 miles of the restaurant but each of the chutneys matched with the individual cheeses are made from locally sourced fruits and vegetables, made them stand out from the crowd.
These awards finishes a remarkable 4 weeks for Steve and Claire Love at Loves Restaurant who were awarded two awards for their wine lists last month. Both the AA Restaurant Guide and The Good Food Guide awarded them Notable Wine list awards in September. The AA work with a list of over a thousand restaurants and less than 200 restaurants were finally noted with this accolade. Retaining the 3 AA Rosettes, Loves Restaurant continues to shine as one of the top restaurants in Birmingham.
The Good Food Guide, now published by Waitrose is the UK’s best selling restaurant guide, reviewing and writing about restaurants, pubs and cafes since 1951. In their overall listings, Loves was the only restaurant in the West Midlands to be given the award. Claire Love was delighted to find out the news, commenting that “myself and the team spend all year tasting wines to make sure that what is on the list is up to date and relevant. It’s really good to know that all that hard work is acknowledged and we are really pleased, obviously, to been seen by the Good Food Guide to have the best wine list in this area”.
Loves Restaurant, run by couple Steve and Claire Love is open Wednesday to Saturday each week and offer a selection of menus from the Prix Fixe lunch menu at £25 to the tasting menu at £70 per person.
