Independent businesses celebrate the best of Birmingham’s music, food and fashion
The Midlands’ most sustainable independent restaurant group has joined forces with EQ Recordings and Disorder Boutique in a collective effort to use the power of music, food and fashion to celebrate Birmingham’s home-grown talent and creativity.
Bar Opus has launched a campaign to bring together the best of Birmingham’s cultural talent with a host of free-to-attend events.
Irene Allan, director, said:
For decades, the Opus brand has been known within the city as a sustainability champion of all things local . Our ethos is firmly planted in supporting local produce and the arts. Our latest initiative extends that support to showcasing local artists and musicians within our Bar.
Bar Opus will host live music in collaboration with EQ Recordings every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 6pm-8pm, with its first performance being held on Saturday 7th January.
Record label EQ Recordings is fresh to the city’s music scene. The locally-grown label and music charity aims to showcase and support Birmingham’s diverse range of talent.
Sophia Carter, founder of EQ Recordings, said:
When we first launched in Birmingham, our goal was to show people that not only does Birmingham have some of the country’s best music venues, but we nurture and are home to some of the most talented people in the industry. It is such an honour to partner with an established brand such as Opus to celebrate and promote the musicians in this great city.
On the 19th of January, Bar Opus will launch its first art exhibition in collaboration with Mark Howard of Disorder Boutique.
Our Bar is looking forward to partnering with one of Birmingham’s hidden gems Disorder Boutique, an independent fashion store, to bring some colour to the city. The walls will become a canvas for Mark’s creations and will establish Bar Opus as a place to admire beautiful artwork and local talent as well as a destination for cocktails and food.
For almost two decades, Mark Howard, owner of Disorder Boutique, has continuously brought fearless fashions and art to Birmingham. Combining his wife’s strong eye for fashion and design with his gift of the brush, Mark sells one-of-a-kind wearable art and his paintings in the boutique on Needless Alley in the city centre. He has recently turned his canvas creations in all-natural material scarfs.
