Gossip Star Beth Ditto launches her new body positive revolution in Selfridges Birmingham

World renowned singer/songwriter Beth Ditto has launched her new body positive fashion collection in Selfridges Birmingham this week

Best known for her powerful voice and songs including ‘Standing in the way of Control’, the body confident American singer has launched her first stand-alone collection, which is now available at the iconic city store.

Announced in December 2015 with the unveiling of a limited-edition tee designed by Beth's close friend and collaborator Jean Paul Gaultier, the much-anticipated collection launches with imagery styled by Katie Grand and shot by Ezra Petronio.

The range illustrates the diversity of Beth's fearless fashion journey, from Arkansas punk-rocker altering vintage finds, to fashion icon in her own right. Vibrant op-art prints are realised in silks and rayons, while gold lamé club looks are off-set by vintage-style tea dresses and well-tailored pencil skirts.

The eleven-piece collection will be available in UK sizes 14 - 28, including form fitting dresses, silk jumpsuits, leggings, tops and a hand-embroided, vintage-sourced denim jacket from Monday, 15th February.

Prints incorporate lipstick kisses, make up palettes and electric eye prints that add a bold fashion vision frequently missing from plus-size lines.

Beth said:

I wanted to make pieces to last years. Beyond trends, beyond chain stores. I wanted to create something all its own, something just for us, made with love and consideration. Made ethically in the USA as a small company with no big corporate input. Uncompromising, unapologetic, and timeless. Go-to pieces designed to last. A movement by us, for us.

Adam Hockney, general manager of Selfridges Birmingham, said:

We are thrilled to have Beth Ditto’s collection in our store, and it just shows the range, and diversity of fashion we have on offer for our shoppers.
