EGX Relocates from London's Earl Court to the NEC

EGX, the UK’s biggest and best games show, will relocate from London’s Earls Court to the NEC, Birmingham from 24 – 27 September 2015.

Formerly known as Eurogamer Expo, EGX is dedicated to video games and is an opportunity for gamers to get together and play the biggest and best PC and console games before they’re released.

The show is growing year on year and the move to the NEC will enable further expansion with over 75,000 visitors expected over four days. In fact, events that launch at the NEC have an average growth of 31% in year two and 13% in year three.

The NEC has a strong track record in hosting major consumer exhibitions and live events for the gaming community including the Gadget Show, GAMEfest, and most recently EGX Rezzed – an event dedicated to PC, indie and console gaming - organised by the same team as EGX (Gamer Network Ltd.).

In addition, the venue’s substantial IT infrastructure, which includes free visitor Wi-Fi throughout, further supports the event’s requirements and ensures that fast and convenient communications are maintained.

Sian Roberts, NEC Account Manager for Live Events said:

“We’re delighted to welcome EGX to the NEC for 2015, especially after the success of EGX Rezzed last year. The gaming industry is worth over £2 billion to the UK economy and we’re very proud that the organisers have selected Birmingham to take the show to the next level.”
“We know we’re the best connected venue in the country – we’re located within three hours’ drive time of 75% of the UK’s population, one hour ten minutes by train from London Euston and just ten minutes by train from Birmingham city centre – but we’re also about to become an exciting 24/7 destination with the opening of Resorts World Birmingham in spring 2015, the UK’s first integrated destination leisure and entertainment complex. Not only will that add value to our visitors’ social experience, but it’s going to create a buzz right across the NEC site.”

Rupert Loman, co-founder and CEO of Gamer Network, said:

“EGX has experienced amazing growth during our four years at Earl’s Court, and while we are sad to leave, we see the move to the NEC not only as a real opportunity to continue its success, but also to evolve and improve the experience we offer both attendees and exhibitors.”

Visitors to EGX will have the opportunity to view independent manufacturers and publishers of computer and video games, publishers of interactive games for video game consoles, handheld devices, personal computers and the internet. There will also be tournaments, indie games, cosplay, a retro zone and board games.

EGX is organised by Gamer Network Ltd, previously Eurogamer Network Ltd., which publishes a range of video game websites including Eurogamer.net, the world’s leading independent video games website.
