Birmingham’s Adam’s Restaurant was today named TripAdvisors’ top restaurant in Britain and the fourth best in the world.

The accolades come on the week that owners Adam and Natasha Stokes expect the birth of their second child and are busy planning the move of their city centre Michelin-starred restaurant from Bennetts Hill to plush new premises in nearby Waterloo Street.

Adam said:

We are so honoured and humbled to receive the Travellers' Choice Award for 2015.
Our goal has always been to open a restaurant where our guests can feel at home for any occasion.
And to be rated in the top five in the world is a remarkable accolade - one we we are determined to can live up to.
As we open up in our new permanent home in Waterloo Street on January 26, we will continue to give each guest a unique experience.

Adams’s has been named national winner in the 2015 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice™ awards for restaurants out of thousands of eligible establishments and ranked fourth in the world.

TripAdvisor based the awards on the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for fun dining restaurants worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period.

Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor, said:

We tapped the TripAdvisor community to help us serve up the top fine-dining restaurants around the globe because an exceptional dining experience can be the highlight of a trip or a special occasion.

These elite dining establishments have earned the highest praise from travellers for their remarkable cuisine and commitment to service.

Neil Rami, Chief Executive of Marketing Birmingham, which operates the city’s official leisure tourism programme, Visit Birmingham said:

Birmingham has grown to become a global culinary hotspot. Not long after becoming the UK city to boast the most Michelin starred restaurants outside of London, Birmingham’s fine-dining scene is once again achieving international recognition. Adam’s restaurant has not only been voted by the world’s largest, most respected travel site as the number one restaurant in Britain; it has been voted as one of the best restaurants in the world. Securing the number four global ranking in the 2015 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice awards is a tremendous accolade for both Adam’s and the city.
Food tourism is a key driver of Birmingham’s visitor economy, with 60% of visitors coming to experience the city’s world renowned culinary offering. The New York Times ranked Birmingham in its “Top 45 places to visit” thanks to its burgeoning food offer; so it no surprise to see the city’s remarkable restaurant scene propelled into the world’s top five.
