Birmingham Jazz Festival to serve up soul food at The Arcadian

Visitors to the Birmingham Jazz Festival will also be able to enjoy food for the soul when The Arcadian hosts a major event as part of the celebrations.

Street Food INC is bringing its tasty treats to the Centre, based in Southside, on Friday July 10, from 4pm, where hungry jazz lovers can enjoy delicious dishes from traders including The Vegan Grindhouse, Baked in Brick, Sticky Fig, Meat Heads, Fancy Fries, The Little Retro Kitchen, The Sauce Shop, Churros Susanna, Paella Paella and White Heat.

There will also be some foodie surprises to enjoy from Le Truc, Individual, Sobar and Caffé Chino – all of whom are based at The Arcadian, plus Chung Ying in Southside.

Lina Higuita, centre manager of The Arcadian, which is owned and managed by London & Cambridge Properties, said she hoped to see as many people as possible head to the Centre to listen to the free music from The Broombusters - a live rhythm ‘n’ blues, rock ‘n ‘roll, ska and reggae infusion band based in the heart of Birmingham.

Lina Higuita, centre manager of The Arcadian, said:

We are looking forward to serving some of the best street food around and staging some great live music for a couple of hours on Friday afternoon,”  “Street Food INC has a lot of experience delivering fantastic, no-fuss food, and The Broombusters also promise to stage a great set.

Julia Chance, Southside BID manager, added:

This promises to be a tasty event for food and jazz lovers and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to this very special occasion.

The Broombusters, which are led by Charlie Wolfman from the late 1970s and 1980s disco soul band the J.A.L.N. Band, appeared on Top Of The Pops and performed alongside other acts such as Chaka Khan and Kool And The Gang.

The music will continue in the IBIS Hotel, at the heart of The Arcadian, when Ricky Cool & The In Crowd will entertain jazz fans with a musical mix of original numbers, ska, bluebeat, rock ‘n’ roll and rhythm ‘n’ blues.
