We did it: The Color Run
I spent my Saturday morning running and before you begin to think I am ‘one of those’ health freaks, I’m not. I ran it because I was told it would be the #Happiest5k I would ever run!
If you’re a non-running lover like myself, you will understand that 5k is not the easiest commitment to make. My sister felt the same..
However I had heard about The Color Run and thought if I was going to commit to any run, this sounded like a fun one to sign up to. I showed Han a few pics on the internet, won her over and signed us up!
Before we knew it, it was the morning of the race and we were surrounded by 9,000 runners!
On arrival you really can see that this is a race for anyone. I saw toddlers, teenagers, parents, couples, grandparents, first dates… yes I said it, a couple had chose the Color Run as their first date!
Once all 9,000 of us had warmed up, we began to run…
For anyone that doesn’t know, every 1k you run through a ‘colour zone’ where volunteers are strategically placed to chuck coloured cornstarch at you and as the song goes.. ‘you can’t go under it, you can’t go over it, you’ve got to go through it!’
When you finish the race you get handed a well deserved bottle of water and packet of coloured cornstarch. We headed straight to the DJ set to carry on dancing and to continue getting ‘coloured up.’
This really is a run like no other. Everyone is up for a laugh and generally just having a great time! I would recommend everyone and anyone to do this, whether it be your first run or your 100th run.. why? Because everyone deserves to run the #Happiest5k ever!
