Fine Foodie havens in the region

As late summer arrives, we have chosen some regional restaurants where you can taste the very finest ingredients, enjoy a drink on the most sun-kissed of terraces and in some cases retire to lavish rooms; especially useful if you indulge in a tipple or two!

With our region’s incredible food offering this could have been the longest blog you’ve ever read, but for the sake of your scrolling fingers we have been stringent, restricting it to our favourites, and in a couple of instances, new additions to our enviable foodie scene.

One of the best ways to travel around the region is using West Midlands Trains.  The benefits are numerous, no traffic, parking woes and cheaper cost, which means more money in your pocket for an additional glass.

Peel’s Restaurant at Hampton Manor

Dedication to flavour has earnt Peel’s restaurant a well-deserved Michelin star.   Situated within a stunning estate the menu of Peel’s is inspired by their Victorian walled garden.

A four or seven-course dinner menu is on offer and includes Longhorn beef, smoked eel, John Dory, veal, salmon and shrimp.  Hampton Manor also serve afternoon tea in their Parlour, which includes a chef demonstration and a welcome drink.

After dinner retire to the oh so snug Fred’s Bar - this retreat is certainly one of the cosiest venues you can imagine to settle in and enjoy a late summer evening.

Laura Ashley The Tea Room, The Regency Hotel Solihull

Situated in Solihull’s The Regency Hotel is the newly opened Laura Ashley The Tea Room.  Furnished in the unmistakable Laura Ashley style this is a quintessentially British experience. What what.

The finest sandwiches and an extensive menu of classic British cakes and teas awaits - if you’re feeling a bit perky there’s a Prosecco option and for special occasions a Champagne Afternoon Tea is also on the menu.

We can’t think of anything more fitting for the summer season.

One of the West Midland’s five Michelin star holders, Simpsons situated in leafy Edgbaston, is a food experience you don’t want to miss.

The menu is seasonal which ensures the finest ingredients of the time will be upon your plate; this also means that the menu is constantly surprising.

Once there soak up the summer sun (if it’s out) on the terrace of the landscaped garden before dinner in the beautiful Georgian dining room.

Also, if you’ve arrived via train, you could take advantage of the finest wine accompiaments and then stay in one of their three luxurious guest rooms. Bliss.

My goodness I’m salivating writing this and it’s only 8.30am!

The Belfry

There are a number of restaurants and bars to savour at this famous golfing resort – but we’re going to hone in on The Ryder Grill.  Think juicy steaks, chargrills, spit roasts, fish and lobster then stop thinking and make a beeline to this Warwickshire retreat.

During the summer the restaurant affords diners magnificent views across the iconic Brabazon golf course and the opportunity for drinks on the terrace.

Where better to have your tee?  Sorry, terrible, move along…
