About

Places for People and Urban Splash have made home-from-home virtual viewings a reality, rolling out a virtual desktop experience for customers interested in homes at Port Loop in Birmingham.

Future homeowners are taken on a virtual tour of the Town House show home by one of the sales advisors; giving customers the chance to ‘walk around’ the professionally styled house from the comfort of their own home. The virtual tour takes place via Skype or Zoom and allows customers to ask questions as they move through the property, making the experience as live and interactive as possible.

In addition to the two and three storey Town Houses, customers can also get more information about the three and four bedroom Brick Houses, designed by Birmingham-based Glenn Howells Architects, that are also on sale at Port Loop.

Toby Brown, Senior Sales Manager for Port Loop, said: “As we all look for new ways of working, living and staying in our homes, we’ve launched a new service for people to digitally immerse themselves in the show home at Port Loop.

“So whether you’re looking for inspiration, thinking long-term about moving, or simply want to seek solitude from your own four walls for a short time, our virtual viewings take you on a guided, room-by-room trip around our show home, as well as the green spaces and shared spaces outside.”

The virtual tour takes people through the 1,500 sq ft show home, room-by-room, and floor-by-floor, giving an insight into the material quality, daylight quality, space flow and ceiling height, as well as views from the windows and balconies. The virtual desktop video forms part of a comprehensive interactive desktop experience, designed with Liverpool based Tokyo Digital, which also includes renders, floor plans, configuration options, and availability.

Toby continued: With everyone currently in Lockdown, we have been given the opportunity to explore and launch new ways in which we communicate with customers. We’re still receiving lots of interest from people looking for new homes in Birmingham which is great.

“Virtual viewings were always going to be part of the future of Port Loop and moving forwards, they will be used to show customers future house types, as well as the various configurations of our modular homes.”

The Town House show home at Port Loop is a modular house and was built using modern construction methods in a factory. In the newly released phase of Town Houses, customers can choose from six layouts, deciding how many bedrooms they need (two, three, four and five bedroom options available) and whether they prefer open plan living or separate rooms. Customers also get to choose between layouts that adopt ‘loft living’ where the kitchen is located on the top floor or the more traditional ‘garden living’ where the kitchen is situated on the ground floor. Boasting a high specification throughout, all the homes have their own private balcony as well as access to a shared garden.

In addition to the modular built Town Houses, there are also traditionally built Brick Houses available, which have been designed on the principles of light, space and flexibility. A special edition home, Brick House has been designed exclusively for Port Loop and takes inspiration from Georgian mews-style properties whilst boasting contemporary, free-flowing layouts to maximise space.

Prices for the new homes start from £308,000 for a Town House home and £310,000 for Brick House. Help to Buy, shared ownership and rental properties are all available.

Boasting a canalside location between Birmingham city centre and Edgbaston Reservoir, Port Loop is just a 15 minute walk along the towpaths to Brindleyplace.

Port Loop is being delivered by developers Urban Splash and Places for People, alongside the charity, Canal & River Trust, and Birmingham City Council. In addition to the new homes, plans are currently being put in place to launch a new social and cultural hub in 100,000 sq ft of former industrial space at Port Loop. A new one acre park has already been delivered.
