Black History Month originated in the United States to celebrate the history, achievements and contributions of black people and those from African, Asian and Caribbean descent.
Today, Black History Month is commemorated by communities across the world and is celebrated in the UK annually throughout the month of October.
There are many special ways to participate in the unified month – from educational events and exhibitions to installations and performance, there is something for everyone during the month-long celebration.
