This 5 week course is designed for photographers at all levels who would like to get to know their camera better in a studio environment, explore various settings, learn about effective composition and how to use lights to produce professional looking images.

There are two course options. Both are for a full 5 week course taking place on consecutive Thursdays between 1 Feb- 29 Feb 2024. Further details below:

Morning course – 10.30am – 1pm at Anglican Chapel, London Road Cemetery
Evening course – 6pm – 8.30pm at Anglican Chapel, London Road Cemetery

You are required to bring your own camera for this course and other equipment will be provided.
The course is suitable for keen photographers who have been using a camera for a while and are interested in exploring studio photography.

Each session will last 2 hours and 30 minutes and we will explore different genres eg portraiture, still life, food. Places are limited to 12 students to enable a personal approach and with plenty of time to practise and ask questions.

We will experiment with various attachments for lighting to create different effects and moods in your photographs. Each week we will explore how to create images of a different genre; portraiture, still life, macro, food. We will learn how to use studio lighting to create professional looking images. We will use a variety of backgrounds, compositions and props to achieve aesthetically pleasing images. At the end of the course you will have variety of images to show off in your personal portfolio or on your social platform.

COURSE LEADER  This course will be led by local photographer and tutor Iva Dyke. Iva has been working in the photography industry for over 20 years and teaching photography courses for over 15 years in Coventry College and privately. She currently takes images on a digital SLR, however she occasionally likes to get her old film camera out and create images on black and white film. Iva is a passionate photographer who doesn't shy from any photographic challenge; she likes sharing her passion and helping other photography enthusiasts to achieve their perfect images.  Her teaching style is very relaxed and informal, backed with years of experience in freelancing and teaching people from various walks of life.
