Song Festival - City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO)

The Green Heart, University of Birmingham, BIRMINGHAM, West Midlands, B15 2TT
Song Festival - City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO)

It's a phenomenon unparalleled in the world: the way that in the Baltic states, thousands of people gather in the open air to celebrate their community in song.

For Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla the Baltic Song Festivals have been a formative musical experience: now, together with the CBSO, CBSO Chorus and SO Vocal choir, plus guest choirs drawn from throughout the region, she brings that same life-affirming tradition to Birmingham. And everyone can take part! So if you're a choral society veteran or have only ever sung in the shower, you're welcome to rehearse and perform live with the CBSO today, under its world-famous director Simon Halsey. Why not bring your whole choir?

Non-singers are more than welcome too! Don't miss some of the country's finest choirs as they come together in the afternoon for an unmissable live performances. Compered by CBSO favourite Tom Redmond, the CBSO Chorus, SO Vocal and the University of Birmingham Summer Festival Voices will perform alongside a selection of guest choirs that showcase the variety and talent that our singing masses represent. In the evening, the CBSO will bring the celebrations to a show-stopping finale with an exciting programme of British and Baltic music, performed live with the massed voices of everyone who has taken part.
