Nature and Nest Boxes - Family Workshop and Walk

The Hive, New Standard Works, 43-47 Vittoria Street, Jewellery Quarter, BIRMINGHAM, West Midlands, B1 3PE
Nature and Nest Boxes 20th February

In celebration of National Nest Box Week Jewellery Quarter Cemeteries Project have teamed up with Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust to bring you a fun activity for all the family this half term!

Jacob Williams, Community Engagement Officer at the Wildlife Trust will be teaching us how to make bird boxes for our feathered friends, which we can use to make our own gardens more welcoming. We'll also be exploring the Jewellery Quarter Cemeteries, spotting birds, counting nest boxes and all the species we find, plus learning more about other wildlife along the way! These fantastic green spaces are a real haven for wildlife including bats, birds and native tree species.

We'll be using the fantastic Makers Studio space at The Hive for this workshop, so places are limited due to space constraints. This activity is free thanks to our funders National Lottery Heritage Fund, Birmingham City Council and Jewellery Quarter Development Trust.

Please book a ticket for each member of your group (including adults). Each group will be working together to make one nest box to take home. If for any reason you need to cancel your booking, please email so that we can order the correct amount of materials for the session.

Please come dressed appropriately for an outdoor walk and practical workshop. Wellies and umbrellas at the ready if it's raining! The nature walk in the cemeteries will be mainly sticking to the pathways and there are step free routes, but some areas are uneven, so we recommend flat shoes. If you have accessibility concerns, please email for more information.
