Brindleyplace Film Festival

Brunswick Street, BIRMINGHAM, West Midlands, B1 2JF
Brindleyplace Film Festival

It’s time to start warming up your vocal chords before this year’s music-themed Film Festival begins at Brindleyplace on Monday 15th July.

Now in its 8th year, the free outdoor Film Festival will be kicking off with a showing of Mamma Mia and will run all week on an outdoor screen in Central Square. Evening screenings during the week will start at 6pm, alongside two earlier showings at the weekend, starting at 1pm and 4pm.

There’s something for everyone on this year’s line-up, including classics like Sound of Music on Tuesday 16th July, followed by Baz Luhrmann’s fantastical Moulin Rouge on Wednesday 17th and Bowie’s goblin king in Labyrinth on Thursday 18th.

Dream of your name in lights with A Star is Born on Friday 19th July, run away to the circus with The Greatest Showman on Saturday 20th at 1pm, or rock out with Bohemian Rhapsody at a later 4pm screening. Closing the show on Sunday 21st is Disney favourite Moana at 1pm, followed by the practically perfect Mary Poppins Returns at 4pm.

Charity partner Sense have revealed more details about fundraising activities they will be running throughout the week. The charity, which supports children and adults who are deafblind or have complex disabilities, will be encouraging film viewers to dig deep to support the work it does. Film snacks will be sorted thanks to its pop-up popcorn stall, which will be in Central Square for all four weekend showings. There will also be a face painter on Saturday, as well as a special performance by a sign sing choir before the screening of The Greatest Showman on Saturday 20th July.

Stacey Muir, Marketing and Events Executive at Brindleyplace, comments: “The countdown is officially on for this year’s Brindleyplace Film Festival and we can’t wait for everything that Sense has in-store for the week. We have a stellar line-up of films, so the estate is guaranteed to be buzzing all week long.

“There will be a limited number of deckchairs available, so whether you fancy a singalong with friends and colleagues after work, or if you feel like bringing the whole family down to the estate over the weekend, make sure you get here in plenty of time.”

In the lead-up to the Film Festival, Brindleyplace is also showing the Wimbledon finals on the big screen on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July.
