About

Providing support to schools and students to continue to be able to learn during these challenging times is a priority for Selly Manor Museum. As the museum cannot currently welcome school children onsite or conduct any outreach activities, the experienced learning team have been working hard to create some exciting digital learning experiences that we are offering out to schools to purchase.

We are now offering 2 film packages to support home and school learning, based on our successful school visits to the museum and covering the topics of the Tudors (for Key Stage 2 children) and the Great Fire of London (for Key Stage 1). Each package includes a virtual tour and a collection of short videos on key study areas to complement school teaching and learning. Designed to be affordable, accessible and informative we highlight some of the key aspects of Selly Manor Museum and our collection. This creative way of connecting with schools during lockdown allows children to experience dramatic storytelling, real historical objects and experienced historians, all with the backdrop of two of the oldest buildings in Birmingham.

We are running a campaign to Tell A Teacher about our new digital service. This might be a friend, relative or your own child’s school. We would really appreciate it if you could share our work by forwarding this email on or taking the time to have a chat with a teacher and explaining more. For more information, and to see a trailer of what’s on offer, just visit our website: https://www.sellymanormuseum.org.uk/learning-tours/schools-education or please refer any queries to the Selly Manor Team: sellymanor@bvt.org.uk
