Retailers donate as giant homeless sculpture is unveiled at Bullring & Grand Central

A 4.3m tall sculpture, commissioned by homelessness charity Crisis has arrived outside of iconic Birmingham retail destination, Bullring & Grand Central.

With the homelessness crisis set to worsen in 2023, Bullring & Grand Central will be hosting the sculpture in St Martin’s Square during 8th – 11th December.

Some of the shops and restaurants at the centre will be delivering products and donations to a donation point that has been set-up at St Martin’s Church as well as encouraging shoppers to visit the sculpture and provide support if they can. Bullring & Grand Central has also donated a number of sleeping bags and warm clothing to the church’s appeal, which will be distributed to those who need it in the region.

Visitors are able to support the charities' fight to end homelessness by scanning the QR codes surrounding the sculpture or donating within St Martin’s Church.

People who experience homelessness can feel ignored every day. The sculpture, which is named Alex, serves as a reminder to look up and take action for the hundreds of thousands experiencing homelessness each year.

The sculpture of Alex will be on display in St Martin’s Square between 8^th – 11^th December with volunteers on hand to provide advice and support between 7am – 7pm daily. For more information about Crisis please visit https://www.crisis.org.uk/.
