Somewhere over the The Rainbow, an iconic Digbeth pub is reborn

Iconic Birmingham pub, The Rainbow, is making a highly anticipated return this October. 

It's been a long time. Too long. But now, the time has come to breathe life back into the legendary pub once more. 

The original Rainbow pub dates back to 1767. Over the last 250 years there have been many incarnations. It's been bought and sold, loved, and left abandoned. 

Finally The Rainbow has been lovingly restored, and it's ready to take its rightful place once more at the heart of Digbeth nightlife. 

The Rainbow has hosted live performances from countless of well-known artists over the years such as The Heavy, La Roux, Joss Stone, Ocean Colour Scene, Bastille and UB40.

But more importantly the pub holds many fond memories for thousands of Brummies. Meeting friends, watching gigs, dancing until the early hours, falling in love. All the things that happen in a proper pub.

It’s time to make new memories, share laughs with friends and put the world to rights. As we speak The Rainbow is in the final stages of a serious makeover for its rebirth in October. Guests have a lot to look forward to with this current refurbishment project. There will be various different spaces such as the traditional Victorian bar, a cocktail lounge and the basement will host live music events.  There will also be a courtyard garden. 

New owners Nick Rendall and Trevean Anderson said, “The Rainbow has been a much-loved  pub and holds a real sentimental value to Birmingham. It is only right that the re-opening of this pub continues the legacy and strives to have a broader appeal in order to attract new people.  Expect live music, live sports, cocktails and good food.”

On Saturdays, The Rainbow’s house band, Urban Jukebox, will be performing a range of contemporary music. Whilst throughout the weekdays there will be performances from touring UK bands.

The drinks menu is a real treat with a selection of 30 cocktails that will include classics, twists and new creations special to The Rainbow.

Digbeth needs The Rainbow back. Prepare yourselves for a trip down memory lane, with good music, good food and drinks and most importantly good vibes.

Another exciting edition to the Rainbow is that BA-HA will be running the street food menu, hearty Sunday roasts (Guinness gravy you say?), brunches, late night bar food and more! 

After many years in the hospitality industry, BA-HA launched in 2018 to deliver the best of plant-based in Brum with a unique dining experience. Starting in 1000 Trades in The Jewellery Quarter as kitchen residency, BA-HA served in many independent venues including a long term residency at Churchills at The Mailbox before the unfortunate closing during Lockdown in 2020. 

They've won titles such as "Best Vegan Restaurant" and "Best of Best Restaurant" by Travellers Choice on Trip Advisor in 2021. 

BA-HA will deliver a unique experience to Birmingham. They're very excited to showcase new and classic dishes washed down with a fresh tipple from the great team at The Rainbow. 

The Rainbow will re-launch on 2nd October 2021.
