Sometimes all that glitters IS gold, and the new Midland’s hotel is poised to be the new jewel in the Birmingham crown when it opens on Monday 17th May 2021.

The Domo Boutique Hotel is chic with a capital C! Personifying the statement that ‘not everything grand is luxurious, but everything luxurious can be grand’.

The team at Domo has gone above and beyond the standards of boutique hotels in showcasing the highest form of style in stunning surroundings. Superb attention to detail has been paid to the interiors, to create a sumptuous space that exudes comfort and enjoyment.

Domo is short for ‘Domicile’ – a word used to describe a place which a person has a substantial connection with – and the hotel certainly makes you feel at home.

Taking up residence in a historic Georgian building (which boasts a 150 year history), the site in Oldbury overlooking the picturesque Church Square has undergone significant refurbishment and upgrades to meet the needs and desires of the modern traveller.

The hotel’s birth has been a labour of love and this can be seen in the great attention to detail that has been paid to its regeneration. You can see many examples of the original striking Georgian features of the property, mixing the old with the new design, inside and out.

On arrival, you are welcomed into the hotel by a marble-clad floor with etched gold streaks and handmade brass work set within the wall panelling.

The design team with their eclectic inspirations have created 5 striking suites, thoughtfully creating unique identities for each of them. Each room is individually designed, and you would be forgiven for thinking you were in a different hotel.

General Manager Santa Bojarinova says: “We are thrilled to be opening our first hotel and we hope guests really love the design elements of the hotel.

“The luxury traveller will adore the Regency Suite with its floor-to-ceiling tall velour super king bed, ornate gold mirrors, lavish golden bathrooms and velvet chaise longue.  The Roberto Cavalli wallpaper really sets the tone for a luxury ambience.

“Whilst others will be drawn to the calm serenity of the Hygge Suite and its four-poster log bed.  The 2.4m Four Poster handmade bed is a statement feature, lending a sense of grandeur to the room.  Laden with stylish fabrics, it sets you up for a perfect night’s sleep.”

“The Mayfair Suite exudes opulence, enhancing its original Georgian features and is inspired by the designs found in London’s Mayfair. Whilst The Venetian Suite offers a continental charm complete with Palais Royal Avenue upholstered King Bed and hand-carved chaise.”

She adds, “much of the furniture has been faithfully commissioned for the hotel from the Middle East. Guests will love the hand-painted Louis XV bed, the midnight blue chaise longue that’s fit for a Queen, the Burberry inspired soft furnishings and the curated handcrafted pieces. Guests will leave their stay feeling majestic!  It really is an exclusive retreat in the heart of urban life.”

When it comes to interiors the team has also been inspired from their worldwide travels. The MoMarra suite fuses the influences of Morocco and Marrakesh, idyllic for the seasoned traveller.

The bathrooms are impressive with added ‘bling’ and will rival any top London boutique hotel with its rainfall showers features, ambient lighting and stones representing elements in the natural world.  Unwind in the designer wet rooms (with demisting mirrors) and then relax in their Egyptian cotton bathrobes.

The Domo is all about the personal touches, the intimacy and the comfort. A place you can visit many times over and call it home.

The hotel will include a boutique café, The Elham, which leads to a courtyard perfect for al fresco dining on these bright Spring days. Guests can enjoy a full English breakfast, poached eggs with avocado on toast or some French pancakes during their stay.

Santa says: “The Elham café boasts a festival of vibrant colours, and the full ceiling floral display certainly adds a wow factor. Take the time to enjoy our espresso drinks as Elham has partnered with a leading Coffee roastery house to offer the finest arabica bean coffee.”

Domo plans to open just over 4 miles west of the city on Monday 17th May and remain open 7 days a week as part of Step 3 of the roadmap out of lockdown.

With a myriad of new openings around Birmingham, this is an excellent time for this bijoux hotel to be part of Brum’s hospitality scene. As well as being in a prime location – just 15 minutes from Five Ways heading west to Oldbury – the hotel benefits from being conveniently located to make travelling easy to any part of the West Midlands, connecting you to both the South-West and acting as a gateway to the Black Country.

So whether you’re looking for historic splendour or cutting-edge style, the Domo is guaranteed to provide a room to remember, especially for you.
