Located at One Chamberlain Square in one of Birmingham’s newest developments - Paradise, Dishoom boasts spectacular views overlooking some of the city’s most beautiful historic landmarks such as the Grade I listed Birmingham Town Hall, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the Chamberlain Monument fountain.

Each Dishoom is unique, expressing a different story rooted from the depths of Bombay. Birmingham’s is inspired by its history as the “city of a thousand trades”, exploring the inimitable parallels with the markets of Bombay and the importance of the city’s commercial past. This can be felt throughout the stunning décor and characteristics in the restaurant and exterior.

Upon arrival, Dishoom staff were attentive, informative and professional and I especially commend our waitress who went above and beyond to ensure our visit was exceptional! The tables were spaced appropriately, hand sanitiser was available on each table and all staff were wearing face coverings.

Dishoom’s menu, inspired by traditional Bombay comfort food offers a range of breakfast dishes, lunch, afternoon and evening tipples, evening feasts, late-night snacks and all day chai!

Our waitress explained the best way to navigate through the menu and suggested her favourite dishes. After many minutes of deliberating between everything on the menu, we settled on chilli chicken, okra fries, spicy lamb chops, gunpowder potatoes, masala prawns, chicken ruby, cheese/garlic naan, chilli butter bhutta, house black daal with a selection of tipples and kulfis to conclude. (Note - food is served as and when it’s ready).

The food was absolutely mouth-watering and the flavours of each dish were truly delicious.

My top three dishes: chicken ruby, cheese naan, masala prawns.

My fave drink: Passionfruit Sharbat
