It's most famous for being the Royalist Headquarters during the deciding battle of the English Civil War and there is an interactive exhibition to visit and learn more about the role it played in 1651.
The Commandery holds a number of events throughout the year, including an annual living history event where you can see over 2000 years of history brought to life. It is one of a small number of attractions that still celebrates Oak Apple Day - the former public holiday commemorating the restoration of the English monarchy in May 1660.
The Commandery has a team of knowledgeable interpreters who run regular talks and tours for group visitors.
After your tour you can enjoy lunch or tea and cake in Commandery Coffee, an independent artisan coffee shop, situated within the historic Commandery, with seats in the beautiful canal-side garden.
