Aegon Classic Birmingham tennis

The Aegon Classic Birmingham women’s tennis tournament has been a summer fixture in Birmingham’s sporting calendar since 1982, offering the people of Birmingham and surrounding areas a chance to experience top class tennis and a taste of Wimbledon on their doorstep.

Played at the Edgbaston Priory Club, just fifteen minutes from the City Centre, the Aegon Classic Birmingham plays hosts to some of the biggest female sports stars around the world and counts Billie Jean King, Maria Sharapova and Martina Navratilova amongst its former champions. It is the most prestigious annual women’s sports event in the region and one of the key warm-up tournaments for Wimbledon, which begins just two weeks’ later.

A day at the tennis is not just for sports fans though. With live music, barbecue and picnic areas, boutique shops, food stands and the obligatory strawberries and cream all on offer, there is plenty to enjoy for all the family.
