The biggest TEDxBrum yet comes to Birmingham Hippodrome
Instead of saying one viewpoint is valid and another is invalid, we learn more about reality by sharing perspectives.
TEDxBrum 2017 will be taking place on Sunday 15 October at the iconic Birmingham Hippodrome, right at the heart of our city’s vibrant arts quarter, to an audience of over 1800 people.
As Birmingham’s very own platform for ideas worth spreading enters its fifth iteration, the theme for this year’s event is perspectives and will feature a full schedule of world-class speakers, artists and performers to cement Birmingham squarely on the map as a global leader in citizen-led change.
With the line-up pending announcement, TEDxBrum curator Imandeep Kaur says of this year’s theme:
We think the crucial challenge for society in the 21st Century is how we understand each other, relate to each other, and talk to each other, embracing many perspectives whilst challenging our own to expose new collective spaces where we can build a city to be proud of, together.
Tickets can be purchased online via TEDxBrum.com/tickets or in person at Birmingham Hippodrome Box Office, Hurst Street, Southside, Birmingham, B5 4TB.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
