Jewellery Quarter Festival
The third annual Jewellery Quarter Festival is back this summer, bringing with it a taste of something quirky and a little bit different in Birmingham. Organised by the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District (JQBID) and supported by local businesses, JQ Festival 2017 will be hosted over the weekend of 28-30 July with free activities, entertainment and opportunities to discover why today’s Jewellery Quarter is the place to live, learn, work, visit and invest.
The BID team are delighted to be bringing the Festival back to the Quarter this year
comments Luke Crane, JQBID Manager.
Each year it gets a little bigger and you can see the momentum is really building.
Last year, the Jewellery Quarter welcomed 18,000 visits over the festival weekend with entertainment from CircusMASH, Corey Baker Dance and Mad Science as well as a cabaret hour of Burlesque acts on the Friday evening.
Our old timey Helter Skelter makes its return, offering free rides to everyone throughout the weekend alongside comedienne Barbara Nice and a whole host of new entertainment, live music and free heritage tours. The festival will also offer a tantalising selection of street food and drink to tease your taste buds alongside more than 60 quirky bars, independent cafes and restaurants all open over the weekend.
The Jewellery Quarter scene is growing faster than people realise; More quirky places to eat and drink, more attractions to see and especially there are hundreds of exciting, innovative and creative businesses tucked away in every corner of the Quarter. With just a 6-minute tram ride from the city centre, the festival really gives everyone the opportunity to really see what the Jewellery Quarter is today.
JQ Open Studios will also make a return with artists, artisans and creatives across the Quarter opening-up their workshops and studios for people to come inside and see what they make.
The JQ Festival will start on Friday 28th July at 4pm on the Golden Square; 11am Saturday 29th July and 12pm Sunday 30th July on both Golden Square and St Paul’s Square. Friday night is aimed at adults while Saturday and Sunday will have a host of acts, entertainment and activities for all the family.
