OxjamBrum Takeover Festival 2013

Tickets are selling fast for the OxjamBrum Takeover Festival, with less than two weeks to go until the best of Birmingham's independent music scene hijack the city for a day of amazing live gigs. Now in its fifth year, the festival will see more than 50 bands playing at seven different venues across Birmingham on Saturday October 12.

Headline acts include folk favourites Boat to Row, ska superstars Tempting Rosie and ten-strong reggae collective 1EYE.

The festival kicks off at 12pm with a parade through Birmingham city centre led by samba collective Oya Batucada and the Indian Dhol Blasters.Beginning at the Bullring markets, the parade will wind up to Victoria Square via The Bull. The festival will then play host to dozens of fantastic bands and artists from Birmingham and beyond, from rock, punk and reggae to folk, funk, electro and hip-hop, plus DJs and MCs – finishing at 2am.As if that's not enough, there'll also be an 8bit retro gaming lounge, live art and rap battles. This year has a record number of venues taking part: The Yardbird, The Victoria, Brewdog, The Sunflower Lounge, Island Bar and newly opened Cherry Reds, on John Bright Street.

Frederick the Canal Barge is also back again this year hosting secret gigs across the afternoon – keep your eyes peeled for more information at the festival.
Tickets costing £10 in advance are available now from the OxjamBrum website or We Got Tickets.
Tickets will also be available on the day for £12 from the wristband collection point on John Bright Street.
All money raised by OxjamBrum will help to support Oxfam projects in Syria and around the world. Last year the festival raised more than £10,000.
