One Beat Sunday

PAST EVENT - 22 July, mac birmingham

One Beat Sunday will give gig-goers the opportunity to see a whole host of hotly-tipped bands in one place. Featuring acts currently making waves on the national scene such as The Carpels, Swim Deep and Poppy & the Jezebels, the one-day festival will take place in mac birmingham’s amphitheatre-style outdoor Arena.

Festival favourites Tempting Rosie, The Jacarandas, Not By Design and JAWS will be playing too, along with two bands which were chosen from a local call-out for brand new unsigned talent - Red Method and The Scribers. One Beat Sunday will also have spoken word from Jodi Ann Bickley & Friends, as well as sets from Birmingham’s freshest DJs.

Outside the Arena, there will be a selection of vintage clothing stalls, a pop-up bar and a barbeque. The event is part of mac birmingham’s Next Generation programme, a series of events and opportunities made by, with, and for young people. There will be a team of young bloggers, reporters, film-makers and photographers working with professionals to document the day, and young creatives from Craftspace Collective will be dressing the Arena for the event.

One Beat Records was founded in Birmingham in 2011 by The Charlatans’ drummer, Jon Brookes, and Ian Light (ex-Virgin Records). One Beat Sunday is mac birmingham’s first one-day music festival.
