The world-renowned Birmingham Contemporary Music Group celebrate their Sound Investment scheme’s achievements in its 25th year with a programme that would not exist without it. At its centre, BCMG presents the latest Sound Investment commission, a tragicomedy for soprano and ensemble by rising Spanish star Francisco Coll.

BCMG presents a relaxed, hour-long, late-afternoon concert for the whole family exploring a sparkling collection of short pieces by composers Elliott Carter, Helen Grime and Pierre Boulez. Each piece is composed for a different colourful combination of instruments – meet the musicians and learn about the instruments they play.

Come and take part in linked pre-concert activities in the foyer of CBSO Centre, starting at 3pm.

One of the UK’s leading young composers, Grime’s music was performed at the BBC Proms and Aldeburgh Music Festival in 2015. BCMG premiere Helen Grime's Piano Concert alongside works by composing greats Elliott Carter, Pierre Boulez and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.

BCMG closes its 16/17 season with a concert celebrating three established masters of the British contemporary scene. Dazzling soprano Claire Booth joins BCMG to premiere Colin Matthews’ Sound Investment vocal work and perform Oliver Knussen’s Four Late Poems for solo soprano.
