Bodega Birmingham's new menu

City Centre based Bodega Bar & Cantina is launching a new Spring/Summer menu full of creative combinations, staple favourites and their own take on some classic South American dishes.

Destined to be popular is the Cordero Seco, tender lamb (braised in Waggle Dance beer), homemade dumplings and seasoned with fresh coriander, cumin and chillies – taken from Bodega’s Peruvian influences.

Dishes such as the Curry Vegetariano a La Brasilenaña and the Burger de Frijol a la Mexicana are both vegetarian happy but will be enjoyed by all lovers of things spicy. The curry, a dish from Brazil is a blend of butternut squash, bell peppers and chickpeas in a spicy coconut and tomato sauce. Whilst the burger is a combination of black, butter and kidney beans served with chipotle mayo and encased in a tortilla wrap.

On the Light Bites menu, choose your own combination of dishes or order one to partner your main meal from this range of small but tasty offerings. New items for 2013 include Beef Empanadas, light parcels of pastry, ground beef and habanero ketchup and vegetarian dish Papas Chorreadas, cubed potatoes, tomato, chilli and spring onions topped with a creamy cheese sauce.

Keeping its place on the menu for another season is the Peruvian dish Lomo Saltado, marinated beef, potatoes and tomatoes with an Asian inspired blend of spices. Each time this dish is ordered Bodega will donate 50p to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, our nominated charity for 2013. Not only is the hospital in close proximity to Bodega but following the birth of his daughter Ava in November, General Manager Steve Bould felt this would be the best place for the donations to go and said, “The Children’s Hospital does such amazing work and since the arrival of Ava it is comforting to know they are here for her, I just hope we never have to call on them!”

Bodega is part of the Bitters’n’Twisted family of bars that includes The Victoria, Island, The Jekyll & Hyde, The Rose Villa Tavern and The New Inn.
