Edgbaston, home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club, is the second largest cricket stadium in the UK with a capacity of 25,000 and is based just one mile from Birmingham city centre.
Founded in 1882, Warwickshire County Cricket Club is one of the most successful County Clubs in England & Wales with the Club being crowned county champions on six different occasions. Edgbaston has played host to cricketing superstars from all over the world and has hosted some of the most memorable matches in cricket history. The stadium was transformed in 2011 and the £32M redevelopment has delivered some of the best facilities in sport which are sure to impress all. The stadium also has a visitor and learning centre as well as a museum which portray the deep history of this club.
Edgbaston is England’s favourite ground! Since 1902 when Edgbaston hosted its first Test Match, England have recorded an impressive Test Match record which includes 26 wins, 15 draws and only 8 losses. England have only lost just one Test Match in Birmingham since 2001. Edgbaston has firmly established itself as a fan’s favourite stadium as it is renowned across the sporting world for producing an electric atmosphere and a memorable match day experience.
Edgbaston is delighted to have secured the biggest matches in the international cricket schedule due to be played throughout 2017 - 2019. These include the ICC Champions Trophy (5 ODIs) with four group matches and a semi-final of this global tournament, the UK’s first ever day/night Investec Test Match between England and West Indies and the NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day in 2017.
In 2018, Edgbaston will host England v India Investec Test Match, England v Australia T20 and NatWest T20 Finals Day. The summer of 2019 is set to be the biggest year of cricket in Birmingham with England taking on Australia in a Investec Test Match and ICC World Cup (4 group matches and a semi-final) all being played at Edgbaston stadium.
