Anne Hathaway's Cottage & Gardens - family home of Shakespeare's wife.

Discover where the young William Shakespeare courted his future bride at the most romantic of the Shakespeare Houses set in rural Shottery. Fall in love with this thatched Tudor gem nestling in nine acres of beautiful grounds including the award-winning cottage gardens and heritage orchards. There is always something new to see as the seasons change, from the joy of early spring flowers in their thousands to the autumn bounty of our traditional fruit trees. Stroll along our woodland walk, listen to Shakespearian verse in the sonnet arbour and tour the delightful cottage* itself which still has some original family furniture. Experienced guides are on hand to conduct you through the 600 year old interior and tell the famous Hathaway/Shakespeare love story. *Please note there are stairs up to the cottage entrance On site: Gift shop, seasonal cafe, picnic area, parking nearby (fee applies) and facilities for visitors with disabilities.
