The Color Run

More than 8,500 happy ‘Color Runners’  headed to Birmingham’s NEC this weekend when the Happiest 5k on the planet  returned to the city for the second time.

Starting as a blank canvas and finishing head-to-toe in every colour of the rainbow, fun-loving runners from across the city and beyond took part in the ‘Happiest 5k on the Planet’ today.

Following a course that meandered round Birmingham’s NEC, participants were covered in coloured powder at every kilometre before making their way across the finish line and into the Festival Finish.

In celebration of their efforts, ‘Color Runners’ then partied in true Brummy style, filling the skies with vibrant multicolour as Capital DJs pumped awesome live music  from the stage.

Driving the concept of the untimed 5k, The Color Run™ is about enjoying a day of fitness and fun, with the aim for participants to cross the finish line with smiles on their faces. Today saw participants jog, walk, skip and dance their way around the route with friends, family and colleagues.

James Robinson, Managing Director of the event organisers, said: “Birmingham never disappoints, we always have so much fun here because everyone truly embraces what The Color Run is all about:  healthiness, fun, friendship and a celebration of happiness.”

The next lucky cities to get covered in colour are:

Sunday 30th August 2015              Belfast, Titanic Quarter

Sunday 20th September 2015      Sunderland, Commercial Road

Saturday 10th October 2015         Brighton, Madeira Drive

Participants hoping to take part in the remaining events are encouraged to visit as soon as possible to secure their place.

New for 2015, the ‘Happiest 5k’ on the planet is also heading to the capital on September 5th 2015, when Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park plays host to the first ever UK edition of The Color Run Night.

Thousands of runners will colour the London night sky as they make their way through illuminated ‘Color Zones’ , bubble stations and blacklight areas, before crossing the finish line to enjoy an incredible night time, glow in the dark ‘Color Throw’ festival finish.

The Color Run™ 2015 is proudly supported by Original Source, Ocean Spray, NSPCC, Capital and Metro.
